How to avoid mistakes when creating an online course
If you are thinking about creating your online course, then, of course, more questions have arisen: where to start? how to avoid mistakes? how to make the course interesting, profitable, etc. You can read a lot of special literature with tips, recommendations, life hacks, but by and large all your new knowledge will come down to the basic concepts that we have identified and believe that this will help you cope with the task at hand!
Explain the structure of the course
New information is much more difficult to digest if you don't initially explain the course structure to your audience. Do not forget to remind how each stage of training is interconnected with the final result, summarize under each topic that you have managed to study and what topics you will touch upon in your online course. Speak about basic concepts and specific terms from your online course, so you make sure that the audience will be on the same way with you.
Remember the school years: the teacher explains - everything is clear, asks - everyone is silent. Most often, the first time, many do not absorb new information. To consolidate the theoretical part, go to practice and analyze the example according to the material covered, give the opportunity to solve a similar problem yourself. Do not be afraid to change the context of the problem so that students can find solutions themselves, resorting to the help of theoretical knowledge at the right time. The more options are considered in practice, the more likely the theoretical knowledge will be remembered better.
Don't be afraid of examples!
It is good to know the theory, but the most interesting is its application. Offer to think of where the new knowledge might be needed and how it might help in each specific situation. The realization that new knowledge can change something in real life, on a psychological level, gives the listeners a sense of satisfaction.
Tests and control tasks are an integral part of any online course: this way you can not only understand how the material was learned, but also identify difficult and incomprehensible points in your course. Distribute the questions in the tests from different theoretical topics: this will help the listeners select the necessary information on their own and build a structure for themselves. Problem solving should not follow directly from theoretical knowledge, but will make the listeners think.
Give it a try
The goal of any course is not to memorize what you've learned! Try to take out individual tasks in the form of cases, so that you can independently solve the problem from start to finish. As practice shows, it is best to remember what caused difficulties in the learning process. Review common practice mistakes to reinforce what you learned.
